Out and About…

We’ve had a busy few weeks with two of our favorite events: The Taste of Talent at Perona Farms on May 1, followed by An Evening of Wine & Roses at Centenary University on May 18.

We love putting together new menus of finger foods for these two special events.

Taste of Talent

The Taste of Talent is a fundraiser supporting Project Self-Sufficiency. Many local restaurants participate, and residents attend to find out about new places to eat in town and learn about the organization.

“Since we’ve been participating in this event for over 20 years, we’ve really seen Project Self-Sufficiency grow in it’s ability to help the community,” says Catering Director Laura. “I remember when their building project was just a plan.”

This year we served our Korean BBQ in a lettuce leaf wrap with various banchan (small sides) for toppings, including carrot and daikon, and radish and cucumbers!

We served two different types of desserts: mini chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing and raspberry chambord pipettes, and chocolate mousse cups.

Laura brought fresh lilacs from her garden to decorate the table. Not pictured: two beautiful display wedding cakes!

An Evening of Wine and Roses

Wine and Roses is another fun fundraising event around this time every year. The event takes place at Centenary University and benefits the Newton Medical Center and Hackettstown Medical Center.

“This is one of the largest wine tastings in New Jersey, and it’s really fun to meet up with our fellow restaurateurs,” Laura says. “Most of the time we don’t get to see each other, because we’re all so busy in our own kitchens!”

We had a little more room to spread out on our table for this event, so that meant lots of cakes and desserts to display!

Chocolate mousse cups are a favorite at these events because they’re gluten free, and pretty hard to resist!

Since it’s a wine event, we served the mini chocolate cupcakes with pipettes again, but this time with a merlot wine in the pipettes.

Of course, we displayed our latest favorite wedding cakes. Maroon, blush, and gold has been a top color scheme for weddings, and we’re not complaining!
